TM Group, Benidorm's Leading Developer, Accelerates its Expansion in the Mayan Riviera with the Construction of 500 Five-Star Hotel Rooms

The renowned developer from Alicante, TM Group, recognized for its outstanding activity in the construction of new projects in Benidorm, has decided to intensify its presence in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. With three hotels already operational and a fourth under construction in the Mexican Caribbean, the real estate company plans to build 500 new hotel rooms between 2024 and 2027, according to its ambitious business plan. 

TM Grupo, headquartered in Torrevieja and with more than five decades of experience since its founding in 1969 by the Serna family, has consolidated a significant part of its activity in Mexico. In the paradisiacal Riviera Maya, the developer has developed the successful brand "The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences", based on a model widely established in North America, although less common in Spain: the construction of five-star condominiums. 

These condominiums house villas and apartments that are sold to individuals and investors, allowing them to enjoy their property during certain periods while TM's hotel management company takes care of the operation the rest of the time. Currently, TM Grupo manages 1,000 keys in three hotels: The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences and The Fives Downtown Hotel & Residences Curio Collection by Hilton (both in Playa del Carmen), as well as The Fives Oceanfront in Puerto Morelos. 

In addition, the construction of The Beachfront by The Fives Hoteles, a 50-room adults-only boutique hotel in Xcalacoco (Playa del Carmen), is underway and is expected to begin operations in the spring of 2024. In addition to these existing projects, TM Grupo has plans to add 500 new hotel beds, all located by the sea. These beds will be distributed between the construction of new five-star resorts and the expansion of its existing hotels on land already owned by the company. Although the necessary investment has not yet been disclosed, the Alicante-based firm is finalizing its strategic plan for Mexico. 

It should be noted that TM Grupo owns more land in the Mexican Caribbean area, with capacity for around 300 additional apartments, a commercial area and, possibly, a convention center in the future, according to company sources. Joaquín Serna, general manager of the Mexican operation, is leading the company's expansion in the region. TM Grupo's global activity is led by Ángeles Serna as president and Pablo Serna as general manager in Spain. Last year, the real estate company achieved a group turnover of €260.6 million, with a record €65.4 million coming from Mexico, thanks to its residential development and hotel management projects.
