The coast of Almeria, Costa del Sol and the Balearic Islands among the most sought-after areas for buying and renting

The coasts have become this summer the most demanded areas to look for a property to buy or rent, and among these the most sought after is the Zapillo Beach on the coast of Almeria. Its average price is 1,966.84 euros per m2. Next is the beach of Torre del Mar in Malaga, with a price of 2,605.44 euros per m2 and the beach of La Victoria in Cadiz, with an average price of 3,024.75 per m2.

Not only have these beaches been the most sought after, but it has also been reported that there are several locations that are filling up with new owners. Among them are: Matalascañas Beach (2,148.75 €/m2), Puerto Umbría Beach, (both beaches are in Huelva); Torrenueva Beach in Granada (1,695.93 €/ m2); San Juan Beach in Alicante (3,474 €/ m2); Santa Cristina de Oleiros Beach in A Coruña (2,747.89 €/ m2), and Somo Beach in Cantabria (3,388 €/ m2).

Can Picafort Beach in the Balearic Islands is the most sought after among those looking to rent in summer with a rental price of 28.22 €/ m2 on average. Palmones Beach in Cadiz is also among the most sought after. In addition, Playa de San Juan (13.53 €/ m2); Playa de Río San Pedro also located in Alicante (10 €/ m2); Playa de los Cristianos in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (18.79 €/ m2); Playa de La Mora in Tarragona (17.36 €/ m2); Playa de Mogro in Cantabria (13.67 €/ m2); Plaza del Zapillo in Almería (10.65 €/ m2); Playa Isla Plana in Murcia (20 €/ m2) and Playa de las Canteras in Las Palmas (15.79 €/ m2).

Prior to the pandemic, homeowners in coastal areas (especially beachfront areas) were mostly vacationers. But with COVID-19 this has changed. Many people now work from home and this allows them the ease of living in areas where they would not normally live but only go seasonally, and this applies not only to the beaches but also to the rural and rural areas that have been affected.
