A new project from Filmin founder and the 'Chupa Chups' family

Developing their 'coliving' business in Barcelona, Marta Bernat, daughter of the founder of Chupa Chups, and Juan Carlos Tous de la Prada, co-founder of the independent film streaming platform Filmin, have formed the company Part Time Living, according to sources close to the organization.

Enric Bernat, the creator of the Spanish candy company Chupa Chups, is the father of Marta Bernat Serra. The company's iconic logo, which has become one of the brand's most recognizable designs worldwide, was also created by the well-known Marta Bernat Serra. The logo, designed in 1969, features a sunflower with spiral stripes at the bottom. Today, Chupa Chups remains one of the most recognizable logos in the world and is a well-known international brand of candy and chewing gum.

The Bernat brothers, who are among the richest families in Spain according to the newspaper El Mundo, run the Bernat family office to keep control of their real estate holdings. Barcelona's modernist Casa Batlló, which they have controlled since Enric Bernat bought this iconic building designed by Antoni Gaudí through Iberia Seguros in 1993, is one of their real estate jewels.

The family also owns Conway The Convenience, a company specializing in catering logistics.

Tous de la Prada launched Filmin in 2007 as a competitor to the big streaming services, which offered mainly commercial and high-budget content. Over time and with numerous awards and recognitions for its commitment to film culture, support for emerging filmmakers, and specialized content, Filmin has become a benchmark in the Spanish film and television industry.

Juan Carlos Tous de la Prada is known for his work as a film critic and author of specialized film publications. Before founding Filmin, he worked in the film business as a distributor and producer.

One of Tous' most recent business ventures is his participation in the film industry. After Nazca Capital and Seaya Ventures bought 72% of the company for 20 million in 2020, he still owns a minority stake in the company.

According to the same sources, Part Time Living is still at an early stage, but the first asset purchases have already begun. For now, the company will focus on developing in Barcelona, a city that "needs to offer affordable housing for young people and professionals who come to the city for work and cannot afford traditional rentals", they add.

Tous and Bernat founded Part Time Living less than a month ago with a share capital of one million euros. According to the company's entry in the Mercantile Register, it will be dedicated to the acquisition, purchase, sale, transfer, exchange and lease of all types of real estate and land, as well as the rental, with or without an option to buy, of properties for use as homes or offices.
