Amancio Ortega wants to take over the former BBC headquarters in London for around 90 million

Amancio Ortega, the founder of Inditex, continues to invest in London property through his investment company, Pontegadea. He is in talks to acquire the former headquarters of the BBC for around 80 million pounds (almost 90 million euros), according to 'CoStar News'. Specifically, the property in question, owned by Abrdán, located at 33 Foley Street, could be acquired by the founder of Inditex.

At the end of 2022, Ortega made his most recent purchase in the United States when he paid 324 million dollars (about 305 million euros) for a luxury residential skyscraper in Seattle. The Chiara Tower, which has 461 rental flats, was the building the Inditex founder bought near Amazon's headquarters.

In Seattle, where Ortega has already invested close to $1.5 billion (1.412 billion euros), he has strengthened his operations. The Inditex founder also completed in October the acquisition of a luxury flat skyscraper in New York for just under $500 million (505 million euros).

In addition, in 2022 he acquired the iconic Royal Bank Plaza skyscraper in Toronto, Canada, for approximately 1.15 billion Canadian dollars (plus 874 million euros), as well as an office building in Glasgow, Scotland, for approximately 200 million pounds (237 million euros).

These assets are complemented by additional logistics facilities located in the United States, including a platform used by FedEx in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, at a cost of USD 35 million (about EUR 34 million), and a distribution facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at a cost of USD 148 million (about EUR 147 million).

Through his investment company Pontegadea Inmobiliaria, the founder of Inditex invests in real estate with a portion of the dividends he receives from the textile company.

With a portfolio of real estate assets consisting mainly of non-residential office buildings located in the center of major cities in Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and Asia, Ortega owns the largest Spanish real estate agency, focused on the purchase and management of large buildings.
